AVG antivirus in combination of Spybot-Search%26Destroy offers the extreme protection which even paid versions do not provide.

These two are freewares and are also lite on your system memory.
AVG Internet Security (paid version) use with AdAware free.This is a good combo.
Nod32 nothing like it, fast %26 light voted AV of the year two times running.

The one NOT to use is AVG - poor detection rate.
Hi there, I have a monthly subscription to a computer magazine and they tested 10 major brands of antivirus software, the one that came out on top was Kaspersky, it came well above Norton and Zone alarm in their ratings. Im just waiting for my subscription to Zone alarm is up and then I'll be switching to them.
