I personal also like avast, because it has the opportunity to remove the virus back to the original file, which is helpful, when the virus tried to infect another file. But I stopped using it, because I had a lot of Trojan horses with their updates. I use now Trend Micro and I am very happy. Also install a better firewall than the windows firewall. The firefall witch is included in Trend Micro Security is blocking viruses very good, and if a hacker tryes to get in your system it blocks it also very well. AVG spyware and virusprotection is also good.

Ad-Aware SE Personal doesn't have a darn thing to do with loading McAfee antivirus. Ad-Aware is a spyware program that doesn't conflict with anything. Of course, McAfee is a load of crap, but apparenty that's your choice. What you have done is delete files that are needed for uninstallation. If you download and install a program -- to remove it, it HAS to be uninstalled. You want it off? Now you have to install it again to remove it.

Roxio can create lots of issues on a PC, so you should un-install that program, at least temporarily, so that you can run the AVG installation without any error messages.

Oh god...get rid of AVG ASAP. I had it for a while...one day I heard my modem chirping away, so I checked and AVG was trying to access the internet without permission. I wasnt happy. So I unintalled it...and what do you know...it didnt like that one little bit...so it chewed holes in my registry and totally crashed my computer. I had to pay thru the nose to get it repaired. The technician said this is common with AVG and similar anti virus programs as they contain spyware and other nastys.

So remove it...carefully. If you arent a pro when it comes to computers, get someone who is to get rid of it for you.

Oh and AVG leaves parts of its program in your computer even after it has been uninstalled...so make sure it is all gone

You don't want to mess with your employer's network. First off the IT department has to check software to make sure it is compatible with the network. They also must have the business license for each copy that is being used. Not having that will cause your employer to pay a hefty fine when they get caught....And caught is very possible as business's are audited on the software they use compared to the software licenses they have.

Ask your IT department if there is anti-virus software running on the network. As long as they say yes....you don't want to do anything else that could crash your network.
you shouldn't install anything at all on your office pc, you could get fired. You should contact ur boss or the company IT for anti-virus if you think its not on the pc.

I run both AVG and AntiVir. Norton seemed to slow my system a bit. Both can be found at CNET.com under free downloads.

The FIRST thing to do is DISABLE System Restore.

If enabled, this allows malware to hide in the computer and re-install itself. To disable it, RIGHT-click on "My Computer." Select "Properties" then under the 'System Restore' tab, check 'Turn off system restore' IF not already checked.

The next most helpful things that would help you are to use ONLINE scanners from websites to remove any malware on your PC. I had no problems even with the Firewall enabled. Did you follow the list of instructions carefully - including ticking the "repair" option as opposed to "install" ? If not, then your best bet is to uninstall and reinstall. I assume that if you do that you'll need to install it fully this time (rather than "repair")

This loads the definitions. Click block pages silently also.. Look for and download , Zone Alarm free fire wall also..You need one of these too. Then go to www. lavasoft.com and look for AD-Aware SE personal edition..Download it and then update it... These programs are all free..Then run all three programs. The Firewall runs itself.. You will need to run all three programs at least once a week..The AVG protects constantly. And can be set up to automatically update, and scan for problems. You can only have one antivirus and one firewall program on your computer at one time. If you use more then one your computer's security could actually be degraded instead of increased. If you are using a 3rd party firewall (eg. zonealarm) make sure the windows firewall is set to off in the security center. AVG and Avast are 2 great free programs, and should work together w/ the firewall portion of Norton just fine... good luck...

You should not have two anti-virus programs, running on your machine, at the same time. They will "fight" with each other, and slow your computer down. I have AVG on my computer, and have not had any problems. You will have to choose between norton and avg. I don't think that you need avast, you have plenty of coverage now. Just delete one of your anti-virus programs. You probably will keep norton, because that is a pay program. When that expires, then switch over to AVG. Good Luck..

I use this program called unlocker , when its installed you right click on item and youll see unlocker , click it and it will give you options and deal with it for you.

Well I got Windows OneCare and it works good.
