Norton anti-virus. Also try window defences - you can download it free in to microsoft website
AVG at www.avgfree.com and a fire wall is zone alarm, at www.zonealarm.com, both have free versions, but when you download you will get the full trial version, which expires after 30 days but convertts over to the free edition.
Norton antivirus. It is cheap.
I'm using Win98 and the following software programs (with Publisher's Descriptions) are the ones I use and recommend, but you should go to download.com and read the user reviews before making any decisions. I run 'Bazooka' first and often (Bazooka only detects, it does not fix), it's super quick, but it doesn't detect everything. There is no program that will detect all of the problems and all of the programs together will not fix all of the problems, but these will get most of them. I run 'Ad-Aware' once a week and 'AVG'/'Spybot' once a month. My machine runs like a singer with this set and they use very little of my computer resources . I don't use a firewall program, they are resource hogs.
