If you already have an antivirus program then you don't need another one, but if you have no virus protection then you should get one ASAP

I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search %26 Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

These are cleanup tools. Ad-aware cleans files, and SpyBot cleans the registry,

You might run your Anti-virus scan.

Go to START and pick RUN. Type MSCONFIG and go to the startup section. Uncheck the programs that you do not need. Keep your Anti-virus checked.

If you don't already have an anti virus program, then yes very much so. I use avg, and it works well, and its free.
Norton, AVG, Avast are free antivirus software.

Its not required or anything but would be good to have one to protect you if you do get a virus. If you dont get online then you dont really need one.
You shouldn't go online without active Anti-Virus and Firewall Programs.
