I have Avast Anti Virus, and unlike AVG it does not do a complete scan every morning when I switch on

So does it do one in the back ground or do I have to do it my self manualy ?

yes you have to do it manually, but it is better at detecting viruses than avg.

you can control when this program scans, it is in the program itself, read %26 look
You have to click on the icon and choose the preferences to scan. I know a guy who runs both at the same time, lol, which creates some funny conflicts but he likes it that way because each one catches some things the other doesn't. I use Avast and Superantispyware when avast isn't removing something.
It works by running in memory and checking everything that comes into your computer. No virus checker is compeltely safe though. Windows is inherelently insecure which is why most web companies choose to use other opertaing sytems.
I have AVG and AntiVir

Both does full virus scan when I turn on and monitor my information live.

Its a good combo and both use very little cpu

Hope this helps

Petexx..
kaspersky is the best
Move back to AVG, it is much better, i have been using it for the past 6 years or more on several different computers and have never ever been "virussed"... using a Rumsfeld here.

If you still choose to use Avast, there will be an option to set recurring scans in your preferences.

AVG Rulez
i think with avg u have to do it your self unless you set it to do it
Don't worry ,the active shield of avast antivirus is always running in background. It continuously checks the files.
You have to do it manually.
