Whatever you do don't get McAfee - many Vista pcs were mistakenly sold with McAfee included but are not compatible and the anti-virus slows the computer down to less than a tenth of its normal speed.
Friends of mine had the above problem, uninstalled McAfee and downloaded AVG free anti-virus instead from http://grisoft.com - they also tried to get the AVG anti-spyware (http://www.ewido.com ) but could not get even the Vista compatible one to run. Anti-virus is fine though and I strongly recommend it.
Both of these rae free and will work with vista.
