They are excellent - no antivirus is perfect not even the expensive ones.

Is open source anti virus any good?bmw
I cant really comment on the "open source" Anti-Virus your referring to Im sorry to say.
But I do see one real concern off hand with open source security solutions (AV, Firewalls etc) is that there is no guarentee the developer will continue to support the product further down the line. Additionally there is no guarentee they will have the full support and resources of Professional Virus Labs that are situated around the world.
Like i say those are the only two Items that can spring to mind off hand. (I'd be happy to be proven wrong on this one though) Open source for the most part is relativley good news. But unfortuantly I've seen O-S software shut its doors far too often (e.g. projects over at http://www.sourceforge.net )
Best of luck

The only open-source A-V that I know of for Windows is ClamWin. It's virus detection capabilities are pretty poor.
A lot of people use Clam AV which is free. As far as effectiveness, I am unsure.
